With the first blush of sunrise I awakened to see
a vast, scowling mountain looming over me.
I turned to consider both the left and the right,
a mountainous range had enclosed me in tight.
Locked is this gloom, my soul sunk to despair.
I cried out for help, but no others were there.
For some wedge of escape I desperately sought.
But too tight was my prison,my searching for nought.
Then finally my Spirit took boldness to speak,
“Look up to the sky beyond the high peaks.”
I lifted my head past the broad mountain line
And a strong, gentle hand reached down and took mine.
He lifted me out of that shadow of doubt
To the bright light of day from the top of that mount.
“Dry your eyes, child” He spoke. “Your victory’s been won.
When the darkness surrounds you, just look to the Son.”
