Me and Mr. T and Knoebels Park with the family

Well, it’s only mid-July and it already feels like it has been a crazy, crazy summer! Only mid-July?! My mind feels more like it wants to say “already mid-July?!” Where has it gone?! I feel like I’ve blinked and my summer has disappeared! POOF! (Insert puff of smoke here!) Anybody  else feeling this way? I just can’t remember the last summer that has felt so hectic.. weddings, graduations, vacation bible school, doctors appointments, vacation, back to school for me… it’s just been a constant sense of movement. And I feel behind on everything – behind on life! Can you relate to that? THAT, unfortunately, is not an unfamiliar feeling! It is all too familiar! Sometimes it seems like my default mode! Ha ha! But, God always seems to know just when I’m getting to that point where I’m just about to go over the proverbial edge and he gives me a rest! Yesterday I looked at my calendar for the week and, lo and behold, not a thing on it for the whole week! And  the heavens opened up and the angel choir began to sing…“Hallelujah! Hallelujah!”

Mr. T planning his strategy to kick our sons butt in mini-golf!

If you follow me on Facebook you know that a couple of weeks ago I told you about some changes that were going to be happening here at Ronnie Rambles On. Some of them you can already see. We have a new look and layout. Hopefully, it’s one that everyone likes and that’s easier for you all to navigate through. I had hoped to break it down even further for you – separating topics into individual “pages”, i.e. devotional writing would be on it’s own page, fiction writing would be on another page, etc – however, after much blood, sweat and tears spent laboring over it, I discovered that that was not possible within WordPress! Go figure! (After Googling it, I discovered a lot of people, like myself, who thought it should be possible, and were just as disappointed as I was!) So, alas, we’ll just have to stick to searching for specific topics through the “categories” system!

But, the biggest change I wanted to tell you about is actually a content change. Now, those of you who enjoy the basic writing content, don’t worry, that’s not changing. I still have every intention of continuing to write devotions and fiction and whatever pops in my head – for better or worse! This content change is simply a matter of addition! If you’ve read Ronnie Rambles On for long, or if you know me personally, or follow me on Instagram, you probably have figured out by now that I have a Passion for Fashion! Well, recently I have taken that passion to the next level. I’ve enrolled in school to get my certification as a Fashion Stylist – a lifelong dream. When I sought out colleges back in my high school days, I waffled between a Creative Writing major and a career in fashion. For various reasons, Creative Writing won out. But my love for fashion was never out of my mind, and in recent months, God brought situations and people into my life that made it clear that now was the time to pursue that dream and walk through that door! So, here I go… and I’m going to bring you with me! (Aren’t you lucky!)

I had already been considering the idea of adding a fashion element to the blog, but now, with the addition of my school and the work I’ll be doing, it seemed like the perfect opportunity! As much as possible, I’d like to walk you through some of my lessons with me… introduce you to some of the concepts I’m learning, show you my projects, share them with you, and perhaps as I’m learning and growing you will as well. But, there’s also another aspect of fashion I’d like to introduce into the blog, also. One of the comments I’ve repeatedly heard from people, and have admittedly been guilty of saying myself in the past, is that fashion is for people with money! We look at magazines, television, and some fashion blogs and the outfits that they wear seem to be so far out of our reach! Even some that claim they’re showing “bargains” or “sales” or things “on a budget” will sometimes make us think, “Well, I don’t know who’s budget they’re working with, but it’s certainly not mine!” And, so, we give up. I want to show you that simply is not the case! FASHION AND STYLE IS FOR EVERYBODY! Every body shape, every pocketbook. I work on a very limited budget, and I’d like to show you you can, too!

Now, I know some of you are saying, “Fashion is not my thing.” I hope this does not scare you away, but rather take this as an opportunity to learn something new and expand your horizons.

To get a peek at some of my outfits – thrifted outfits, in this case – head over to my Instagram page. Last week I took part in a Thrifted Chic challenge, wearing a different thrifted outfit every day. My page is public, so even if you don’t have an Instagram account, you can still go in and look at the pics!

Be Blessed!

  1. It’s going to be so exciting Ronnie, to see what you learn in your studies!! I love fashion (obviously) but that doesn’t really mean I know what I’m doing!! LOL
And it’s true that not every woman thinks it applies to her. But I have to point out that we all have to get dressed everyday….and great clothes make you feel so much better about ourselves!! That’s a fact—I’ve read many studies on it!!

    1. Isn’t that true – and kinda funny! We all do get dressed every day, but yet some of us think that fashion doesn’t apply to us. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, someone out there is judging us by what they see. We’re making a statement. I’m really looking forward to adding this dimension to the blog. And, I REALLY appreciate all YOUR help and encouragement!

  2. I will be interested to see what you can do, Ronnie. And I’m very happy for you. I remember you talking about doing something like this many years ago. It’s exciting to see you fulfilling your dream 🙂

  3. Ronnie, first of all, I didn’t realize you had a blog until I read your Instagram post earlier today. Very cool! I am excited to hear about your new adventure and will be following along. I am looking forward to learning more about your classes and seeing your style posts.

Do you use or I know I can create pages on, as well as category drop downs.

    1. Hey Jennie! So great of you to pop in here and visit! Yes, I’ve had my blog for about 2 years now. As you can see, up to this point it has been mostly journaling my weight loss journey and creative writing, which was my college major. So, this is a little step out. I’m REALLY excited about it!
I am in, but I literally spent three days and nights (and as many migraines) and could find no way on my own to put my existing posts on separated pages. And everything I found in the trouble shooting and that I googled said it couldn’t be done. Now, I will grant that I am technologically inept, unlike you, as well can tell from your gorgeous site! But, if you have any tips, I would GLADLY take them!

  4. Thanks so much, Linda! We did talk about this, didn’t we?! Wow, that WAS a long time ago! I think we talked about a magazine or newsletter aspect, back before blogs were “the thing”! IN FACT… I actually came across the mock up you had me do to “visualize” it several months back! I still have it! I have to say, thinking of you going back to school at 50 years old and changing careers actually was a real encouragement to have the courage to take this step! So, thank you!
